Ross Payton
AIA, NCARB
Principal, Studio Leader
Dallas, Texas USA
Ross began his career in Aviation 27 years ago, first working on the DFW Consolidated Rental Car Facility and later DFW’s crown jewel, International Terminal D. In the time since, he has led the design, planning, and management of a wide range of aviation projects, including several transformative projects with Delta Air Lines and the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Ross also recently led an award-winning effort to reimagine Nashville’s airport — through a program aptly named BNA Vision — for the aviation team’s forward-thinking design strategies. For his contributions to our firm, Ross has been awarded the Larry Eldridge Award for Excellence, Integrity, Dedication, and Mentorship, which is given to one individual each year.
First drawn to architecture for its 3D nature and his interest in solving complex puzzles, Ross says what continues to keep his interest is “helping others realize the potential their project has to improve the user experience.” As principal in the Aviation market sector and studio leader for our Dallas Aviation Studio, he manages business development while acting as principal in charge of programs of varying sizes.
When not traveling for work or managing large-scale projects, Ross is spending time with his family in whatever way he can. “I love to build experiences with those I love,” he says. “Those experiences might include music, travel, food, movies, or the outdoors.”
