The Shop
Tradition & Innovation
At Corgan, model making is a valuable part of the design process. The firm has always maintained a model shop, but in 2024, we invested in this belief, with the opening of a new 3,000-square-foot space dedicated to taking designs from the digital to the physical.
Located three blocks from Corgan's headquarters in Dallas’s historic West End, The Shop features state-of-the-art tools including laser cutters, advanced 3D printers, and professional woodworking equipment, encouraging architects and designers to get hands-on.
The Old and The New
The Shop provides the resources, know-how, and skill sets to leverage traditional craftsmanship, woodworking, and hand tooling merged with some of the innovative computer-driven technologies we see in digital fabrication. Corgan’s resources have been expanded to the past and present, with a robust selection of traditional tools as well as new digital fabrication tools including laser cutters, CNCs, FDM, and SLA resin printers.
A Material World
In a digitally-saturated word, the value of a physical model—to both designers and clients—is enormous. Physical models, even simple ones, can support collaboration between the client and designer, prompting valuable discussion and exchange of ideas in a way that digital drawings cannot.
Full Service
We do it all. The Shop isn’t just a room of tools—it’s also the people who work here and provide expertise to help Corgan’s architects and designers take their designs from idea to reality, at any stage in the design process.
