Elevating passenger experience while addressing growth.
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport experienced healthy growth in international traffic and was expected to exceed facility capability, which prompted the need for a completely new terminal building. The new international terminal provided supplemental international passenger processing capability through 12 widebody gates served by a new landside terminal roadway system and garage. The new terminal connects with the 28-gate existing international concourse by way of a people-mover extension and passenger walkways, creating a 40-gate FIS complex. The terminal contains a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol facility capable of processing 2,500 passengers per hour.
The international terminal concept provided a functional and operationally efficient terminal with clear, intuitive wayfinding and flexible arrangement of terminal interiors to accommodate industry changes, concessions and a fast-track delivery strategy. The terminal displays a unique architectural aesthetic that is transparent, appropriately scaled and clearly organized. It is a defining world-class international terminal.
