Chuck Blackford
Associate Principal, Information Technology Director
Dallas, Texas USA
In his 25+ years with the firm, Chuck has witnessed an incredible evolution of technology and is instrumental in implementing multiple environmental improvements in day-to-day IT operations. In the mid-90s, Chuck introduced recycling to the firm, and in the 2000s, he chaired the Corgan Conservation Corps. Additionally, he led the transition from Corgan IT to an ITIL-based service management strategy with a strong focus on change management and continual process improvement. Another milestone was the transition from 2D drafting to 3D Building Information Modeling. “Technology has the potential to radically improve the building design and construction industries,” he says. “My current inspiration is leveraging technology to reduce waste and create more sustainable, energy-efficient buildings.”
As IT Director, Chuck oversees all operations and leads a dynamic team of IT professionals to identify, plan, and implement technology improvements and support services for all offices. His work extends to projects such as developing the BIM Standards for the 5-year $1.2 billion Parkland Hospital project and the BIM execution planning for the LAX Airport Midfield Satellite Complex Terminal. “When I think about how far design technology has come in the past ten years, and knowing we've just scratched the surface, makes me look forward to the future.”
