Eric Horstman
AIA, NCARB, LEED AP
Principal
Dallas, Texas USA
The enthusiasm and passion Eric has for his work is informed by his mindset that “the best is yet to come.” As a principal of our Education Studio, he serves as the primary contact between the district and Corgan, leading a team of architects to deliver projects on-point and on time, every time. It is this optimistic view of the future and dedication to quality that have enabled Eric to build long-lasting relationships with our clients — those who appreciate his unique vision for schools as places that reflect the values of the community and “help students develop as whole people,” he says, “not just a score on a test.”
Guided by the belief that his team exists “for the betterment of our future society,” Eric is inspired to do the best he can each and every day. In his three decades in architecture, he has completed more than 100 projects and worked with budgets ranging from $10k to $150 million. However, he says, the greatest reward is seeing the reaction from students and teachers as they come through the doors on the first day in their new school. “That really hits home,” Eric says. “Our work has a direct impact on the lives of literally hundreds of thousands of students every day. These students are our future. What we do matters.”
Although unable to fulfill his dream of becoming a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force, Eric takes great satisfaction and inspiration from the work he does — as well as outside of it. As a member of his church choir, he is inspired by the “upward-focused” worship experience. “There is no substitute for turning your attention away from yourself and the cares of this world and focusing on God,” Eric says.
