A cancer clinic refresh that enhances the patient experience.
Corgan designed the original cancer treatment clinic for UT Southwestern more than ten years ago and intentionally set aside a shell space anticipating future expansion. With suburban population growth resulting in more cancer patients seeking convenient outpatient care, the design team reconfigured and expanded the space to add private infusion rooms and multi-chair bays for patients to receive infusion treatments. The refresh not only reconfigured the space to maximize the floorplan but also created a clean and comfortable environment to lift patients' spirits while undergoing treatment. Soft curves, curated artwork, and a warm color pallet provide wayfinding and positive relief to support patient’s mental health and well-being in what can be a stressful time in their lives.
Prioritizing functionality and cleanliness.
Durable high-end surfaces were carefully chosen to create hygienic spaces sensitive to cancer patients who may have compromised immune systems. Maximizing efficiency, the space is designed to be easy to clean and maintained with invisible baseboards, scrubbable wall finishes, and granite countertops. Streamlined and functional infusion rooms were outfitted with durable chairs and laminate surfaces to withstand a high level of use and constant cleaning.
Empowering patients through a comfortable and empathetic treatment experience.
Private infusion rooms and spacious multi-room bays provide patients with freedom and choice over their level of privacy at the clinic.
