Corgan is providing architectural design services for the reconstruction of the Princess Juliana International Airport in Sint Maarten. The airport was significantly damaged by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in September 2017. The reconstruction project intent is to restore the facility back to its original pre-hurricane condition as quickly as possible, incorporating new passenger processing technologies while the temporary terminal continues to operate.
The renovated facility will include enhanced structural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems as well as life safety upgrades. Additional features include a complete reskin of the building and new baggage handling systems and passenger boarding bridges to increase the quality of the passenger experience.
This $110 million (estimated) renovation and repair project is scheduled for completion in 2023.
