An elegant European retail store
Headquartered in Spain, Porcelanosa is a design retailer specializing in high-end porcelain, tile, and kitchen & bath fixtures for residential customers. Impressed with the number of projects and offices has Corgan globally, they tapped the design firm to build the first of many showrooms planned across the U.S. Designing their flagship showroom in Austin, Corgan created a welcoming, functional, and sophisticated space nestled in the vibrant South Congress Avenue district in the prestigious RiverSouth building.
Employing multiple Spanish-speaking designers on staff gave Corgan the ability to collaborate with Porcelanosa’s in-house designers in Spain to verify any non-translatable items, convert specifications from metric to Imperial units of measurement, and navigate tough codes and regulations to create a dynamic, upscale retail space to showcase their unique product lines.
Refined elegance
As soon as customers enter the modern space, they are transported to an inspiring destination that sparks the imagination. Designing a moody and intimate environment, Corgan designed a low, dark ceiling with exposed mechanical elements while erecting dramatic floor-to-ceiling stone walls to showcase Porcelanosa’s unique products, encouraging customers to linger and dream.
Every inch of the 5,000-square-foot street-level store is planned with precision
From lighted display shelves which are easy to change out seasonally and quartz worktables offering surfaces to collaborate with customers to flexible lifestyle vignettes, the store presents design ideas that can be effortlessly reconstructed as needed.
The narrow back-of-office storage and administration space posed a unique set of design challenges prompting the Corgan team to leverage innovative storage solutions for functionality, design an ADA bathroom, and create custom-made workstations to fit the 15-foot-wide constrained space, all while working seamlessly with the client’s design team in Spain. The result — a beautifully designed space with bespoke elements and elegant solutions befitting the upscale retailer’s exquisite products and services.
