Preparing students to enter the workforce or higher education.
At the Career and Technology Education (CATE) Center, Tyler ISD students can gain hands-on experience in six curriculum focus areas: technology, cosmetology, culinary arts, automotive, legal, and healthcare. The center offers innovative programs developed by teachers, students, and business leaders, which prepare students for college and career while also meeting the employment needs of the community. Students go to the center for four hours of instruction and take core classes at their home campus.
The brightly daylit circulation spine links instruction areas to common spaces and serves as a main street with storefronts to showcase each program. The design put a priority on sustainability with recycled materials, high efficiency HVAC, native and adapted landscape plants, and water conservation features.
