The Temporary Boarding Area B & Security Checkpoint program was the primary enabling project for the $2 billion Terminal 1 Redevelopment Program at San Francisco International Airport. The primary objective of the project was to support passenger processing, maintain gate capacity and provide an enhanced guest experience for Southwest Airlines passengers during the demolition and replacement of Boarding Area B.
The project included the relocation and addition of contact gates, passenger boarding bridges, ground support equipment, baggage handling system, concession relocations and gate and boarding area enhancements. Collaboration with Southwest Airlines, SFO design and construction management and local and state regulatory authorities was facilitated to secure concurrence and approval for the program.
Daily interaction and coordination with the program management team, construction manager and airline representatives was required during the construction administration and turn-over phase of the program.
