IMDC’s largest Data Center Campus in North America revolutionizes their prototypical design.
Resulting in their client’s need for more office space, Iron Mountain Data Centers deviated from their prototypical build to think ‘outside the box’. Continuing to grow Iron Mountain Data Center’s Virginia campus, Corgan designed the third data center -- a unique two-story, split-level structure comprised of a two-story data center and a three-story office tower on the front of the building. VA3 is the third and largest building on the Virginia campus and includes two 48 MW data center halls at 30,000 SF each. The administration areas fit-out were completed in phase 1 which includes security, a loading dock, conference room, restrooms, and break areas.
The building structure is precast concrete, and the data center envelope is a combination of aluminum composite panel and curtain wall. To break up the 600+ foot long façade, a unique dancing window pattern that faces Wellington Road articulates volume and makes the facility attractive to neighboring businesses and multi-family residential neighborhood across the street. This project has plans for four more data halls and once complete, the owner will lease office space in what will be Iron Mountain Data Center’s largest facility in North America.
