Framework for Growth

Invitation Homes enlisted Corgan to help find a new office space and navigate a new workplace strategy to encourage employees to return in office. The leading home leasing and management company wanted to condense its many departments into a more efficient footprint that fosters collaboration in a space that works for them now while being adaptable to future changes. The resulting strategy and design are a combination of home comfort and elevated hospitality that seamlessly blends the company’s residential roots with its corporate footprint.

Finding the Perfect Home

Before making any decisions about where to take its headquarters, Invitation Homes wanted to hear what employees were looking for in their workplace. Corgan supplemented survey data with focus groups to give associates from all levels of the organization a voice. The data and insights armed leadership with defined guidelines when looking for and creating their new space. The developed strategy involved moving the Invitation Homes headquarters north of Downtown Dallas to be closer to is employee base and encourage them to return to the office post-pandemic.

To foster a smooth transition into the new space, Corgan’s change management team worked alongside Invitation Homes’ leadership to set a clear foundation and action plan for the relocation process. This included a planned “Day 1” experience for employees at the new location and guiding them through their adjustment period. Corgan’s workplace strategy team also assisted in developing schedules to accommodate a hybrid workforce with set days in office.

Inspired by Home

When it came to design inspiration, Invitation Homes wanted to offer employees a functional space with the “hospitality of home” serving as a reminder of their focus on residents. Corgan’s interior design team combined innovative workplace accommodations with a residential look and feel to align with Invitation Homes’ business model.

Natural greenery balanced with bold pops of a true green color palette reinforce Invitation Homes’ brand throughout the space. Upon entry, employees and guests are greeted by a living wall with varying shades of moss comprising the Invitation Homes logo. Corgan’s Brand + Graphics team also created a chandelier with cascading acrylic homes to further embrace the brand identity.

Culturally Connected

To foster camaraderie and informal learning, Corgan incorporated social and collaborative spaces throughout the office. In addition to dedicated meeting rooms, group tables throughout workspaces and graphic walls featuring interactive elements like whiteboards create casual opportunities for employees to connect and collaborate.

At the heart of the lounge, Corgan transformed a large structural column to a cultural hub with a curved ceiling and circular banquette to serve as a gathering place. Throughout the space, additional lounge-style seating areas provide relaxed places for informal meetings or quiet breaks.

Office Inspiration

Inspiration for the private offices began with the idea that “all officers are treated equally” and morphed into “all officers are encouraged to have a voice.” While maintaining consistent size across all private offices, Corgan’s Furniture Strategy team provided furnishings tailored to the individual needs of officers in different departments. Human resources can utilize comfortable seating with a sofa and lounge chair, while IT uses a huddle-style table with a TV set up for in-room meetings.
