Corgan Moves Chicago Office to Iconic Downtown Building
CHICAGO — Global architecture and design firm Corgan, has moved its Chicago office to AMA Plaza at 330 North Wabash (formerly known as the IBM Building). The modernist Mies van der Rohe’s 52-story tower is fitting home for the design firm focused on elevating aviation, commercial, interior and data center architecture and design. Corgan is currently working on projects at O’Hare Airport including the Global Terminal and Concourse, Terminal 3 upgrade, American Airlines Concourse L-Stinger and others, has recently completed several data centers in Elk Grove and the renovation of Locke Lord’s downtown office.
“Corgan’s Chicago presence is increasing, and as the firm earns more work in the Midwest, the team is expanding to match the demand. Our new office gives us the space to grow and provides the inspiration to our teams to create functional and beautiful spaces for our clients,” said Bob Emery, Corgan principal and director of the Chicago office.
Having gotten its start in Chicago in 1996, the firm is proud of its history in the city and thus has subtly incorporated the Chicago flag into its office design. The six-pointed star is incorporated throughout: it is hidden in the lattice of the custom shelves at each end of the open office, echoed in the textured tile on the kitchen backsplash, and enlarged for a tonal overlay on an area wall. The presentation area also includes a subtle tonal graphic of the iconic Navy Pier Centennial Wheel, a nod to the city’s innovation in architecture and engineering. Further, Corgan’s office interiors lift from the architecture and design ethos of Mies van der Rohe which inspired a classic material palette of black leather and chrome and an unswerving dedication to orthogonal lines.
The firm sees this move as an investment in the region, its clients, and employees. Corgan Chicago currently employs more than 25 people and is planning to hire approximately a dozen more this year with expected further growth. Founded and headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Corgan has experienced recent rapid growth; it has entered four new markets and expanded offices in 13 locations in the last five years with more planned for 2024 and beyond.
Established 86 years ago, Corgan provides full architectural design services.
