DALLAS and LOS ANGELES – November 4, 2024 — Global architecture and design firm Corgan announces the expansion of its design services with the hiring of Pamela Munson, the firm’s first in-house laboratory planner and medical equipment planner. Munson has over 25 years of experience as a microbiologist and is a certified interior designer; she has designed state-of-the-art lab spaces for world-class institutions such as Cedars Sinai, University of California, Los Angeles, and University of California, Irvine. She is serving clients in the life sciences, healthcare, higher education, and medical industries for the firm, ranked the fourth-largest architecture firm overall and the 18th largest healthcare design firm in the United States.

Munson brings to Corgan deep expertise spanning clinical, research, and education programs, with experience in core labs, molecular laboratories, and electron microscopy suites. Further, she has led efforts to develop standards for equipment and furnishings and has overseen clinical trials of equipment and furnishings for labs and high-tech clinical imaging, surgical, and clinical spaces. In the role, she will oversee lab planning and medical equipment selection to blend functionality with design to create an elevated, design-forward experience for end users.

The firm’s portfolio includes major academic medical centers, behavioral health facilities, labs, oncology centers, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and medical office buildings. Corgan’s service expansion underscores the firm’s commitment to delivering innovative, efficient, and user-focused spaces that support cutting-edge research and healthcare delivery.

"The complex challenges of modern healthcare and life sciences demand that lab spaces evolve to maximize performance, minimize risk, and provide an exceptional experience for end users," said Chris Grossnicklaus, healthcare sector leader for Corgan. "We aim to increase efficiency and speed to occupancy while also creating spaces that will help organizations attract scientists and researchers."

Munson earned a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, a Master of Science in Laboratory Management from California State University – Dominguez Hills and later earned a certificate in interior design from University of California, Los Angeles. Munson is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers, which recently named Corgan the 2024 “Firm of the Year.”
